Brazilian Week takes Dar by storm
By Our Reporter
With a capacity crowd full of Brazilian
nationals and Tanzanians alike, Brazilian Week kicked off at the Dar es Salaam
Serena Hotel on Monday evening. More than 40 dishes graced the buffet menu
inside the Serengeti Restaurant whilst outside on the patio, chefs tended to
the three customized grills where choice meats were being roasted to order all
night long.
With ingredients flown in from
Mozambique, all of the food served had a feel of true Brazilian dining. Adding
to the authenticity of the evening, guests were also treated to a complimentary
welcome drink from Hennessy.
Guests were able to choose from four custom
drinks created with a unique Brazilian twist all of which were well received by
the guests. Hennessy is a co-sponsor of Brazilian Week along with the Serena
Hotel and The Embassy of Brazil in Tanzania.
“We are very pleased by exceptional the turnout
tonight” said Alia Hirjee, Director, QWAY International, the exclusive agents
for Moet-Hennessy in East Africa. “It is always good to see people come
out in the support of learning about other cultures and fostering stronger ties
between nations and Hennessy is very happy to play a part in that” added
Hirjee.
The evening kept a spicy and upbeat pace with a
live performance from Grupo Raiz, a Brazilian band who flew in from Sao Paulo
just for this week and serenaded the audience all night long with Brazilian
songs as well as international classics.
The night concluded with Brazilian Ambassador,
Francisco Luz, who was so pleased with the demonstration of Brazilian culture,
taking to the dance floor with the Brazilian entourage and dancing to
traditional Brazilian rhythms.
